- A team will consist of either a two-man team or a one-man
team. One half of a two-man team Must be one of the following:
(a) Full
Time Certified Peace Officer. (b) Certified Reserve. (c)
FBI Agent. (d) A Public Safety Employee. (e) Retired
From the Law Enforcement or Public Safety Field. Your partner can be a
civilian. A one-man team will consist of one person with the same
qualifications as required by the club for a peace officer or a public safety
employee. A "Public Safety Employee" will be defined as: (a)
Fireman (b) Volunteer Fireman (c) Emergency Medical Technician (d)
TDCJ (State Prison Employee) (e) District Attorney (f) Assistant District
Attorney (g) Judge
- In order to fish in any "Pigs & Hawgs" tournaments, you
must have a paid up membership for the current year, and be in good standing
with the club.
- Trailering is allowed only under the following
conditions.
You must appear at the official launch site of the
tournament to sign in, pay your fees and receive your numbered chip. It is
no longer mandatory that your boat accompany you for check in purposes. You
must inform the sign-in officials that you intend to trailer and provide the
location to which you are trailering. You then may leave the start site and
proceed to your launch site. Upon arriving at your launch site, you may launch
your boat. YOU CANNOT BEGIN FISHING. YOU MUST REMAIN AT THE LAUNCH SITE
UNTIL THE OFFICIAL START TIME OF THE TOURNAMENT. Any infraction of this rule
will result in disqualification for the tournament and possible
disqualification for the remainder of the tournament season.
- NO SHOTGUN STARTS. (Definition - All boats
leaving the marina at the same time with no supervision.) All boats will leave
at the direction of the official starter boat. Only after you have passed the
start boat and only after it is safe for others, will you be permitted to place
your boat on a plane (on top of the water as a result of high speeds). Safety
is the desired attitude of this bass club.
- Any person who acts as a fishing
guide in any capacity whether he is getting paid or not
and whether he has a guide's license or not, is not eligible for membership in
this club. There are no exceptions to this rule!
- You must comply with all Texas Parks & Wildlife rules and
regulations. Failure to comply could result in disqualification from the
tournament and suspension or expulsion from this club.
- All boats are subject to inspection at any time and must
comply with rule #6.
- Tournaments will start and end by a clock determined by the
Tournament Director. The exact time of this clock will be provided to anyone
who requests it. To be on the safe side, always check with the Tournament
Director for this information.
- Protests of any type must be stated to the Tournament
Director within fifteen (15) minutes after the official ending time of the
tournament. The protest will be governed by the written tournament rules
and four (4) non-biased members of the club will examine the protest. A ruling
will be handed out within 30 minutes after receiving the protest and the
decision of the committee will be final.
- Catch and release is not mandatory by club rules, but is
encouraged. Any fish that is determined to be dead by the official Weigh Master
will be removed from the weigh in site and disposed of properly. Throwing dead
fish into the water around or near the marina will not be tolerated.
- Only artificial lures may be used to catch fish during a
tournament. No live bait or dead bait will be allowed for use during the
tournament.
- Only fish caught during designated tournament hours may be
submitted for weigh in.
- Any fish that you submit during weigh in that has been
determined to be dead by the Weigh Master will be subject to a four- (4) ounce
(.25 lbs.) penalty for each dead fish.
- Weigh - In. When you register for the tournament you will
receive a numbered chip. You must return this chip to the Weigh Master by
tournament ending time. Weigh in of fish will then begin within fifteen (15)
minutes of the tournament ending time. If you fail to return your numbered chip
to the Weigh Master by the tournament ending time, you WILL NOT be allowed to
weigh in any fish. During weigh in and while your fish are still on the scales,
if you do not agree with the weight that the Weigh Master has called, you can
ask for your fish to be re-weighed at that time. Once you take your fish back
from the Weigh Master and leave the scales, it will be too late to come back
and ask for your fish to be re-weighed. Once fish have been weighed and their
weight recorded, a member of the team will initial the recorded weight. The
weight of your fish determined by the Weigh Master is final. The club weighs
fish, not water, and any excess water will be allowed to drain.
- All fish submitted for weigh in will be measured by use of a
"Golden Rule" board and must meet the 14-inch minimum requirement. Short fish
submitted for weigh in will be subject to a one (1) pound penalty and the short
fish will not be weighed. Members should be advised that Game Wardens
occasionally attend our weigh ins. Not all measuring boards are accurate due to
differences in manufacturers, materials, temperatures, etc. The "Golden Rule"
is used by TPW wardens and is available at Academy stores for a nominal price.
Please learn the proper way to measure your fish prior to weigh in.
(Note: The minimum legal length on Lake Conroe is sixteen (16) inches by
State Law).
- . The "Pigs & Hawgs" bass club tournaments are five (5)
fish tournaments. A maximum of five (5) fish may be submitted for weigh in. At
each tournament, you may elect to participate in the cash pot for the heaviest
five (5) fish stringer and/or the big bass pot for the largest bass of the
tournament by weight. You may participate in both pots, or just the big bass
pot or the 5 fish pot. However, if one team member wishes to participate in
either pot, then both members must participate. In other words, either both
members participate or neither member participates. The entry fees are $20.00
and $5.00 respectively. You may fish without entering these pots, but you will
not be eligible for the cash prizes. Your weights will count only toward the
trophy run at the end of the season.
- During tournament hours, anytime your boat is in motion by
use of your big motor, you must be wearing a Coast Guard approved floatation
device. Use of a kill switch is also encouraged.
- If you want to fish a tournament with a club member who is
not your regular partner, you MUST inform the Tournament Director at
registration. You will receive credit only for the fish that you catch and they
must be tagged and separate from your non-partner's fish. You may then submit
up to five (5) fish and your non-partner may also submit five (5)
fish.
- We will not accept weigh in slips from another tournament
being fished on the same day and lake as our tournament. Fish must be submitted
and weighed in on our club's scale. We do not weigh paper.
- A team (2 people) must leave and fish from the same boat. No
team will be allowed to use two (2) boats, go their separate ways and then meet
up at weigh in to cull their fish for a five (5) fish stringer to be submitted
for weigh in.
- In the tournament trophy series, each two (2) man team that
shows up for a tournament and fishes will receive a one (1) pound show up
weight. If one half of the two-man team shows up, he will receive one
half-pound show up weight. A one (1) man team that fished a tournament will
receive the same one (1) pound show up weight. This show up weight will only
apply to the final trophy run standings and not the tournament weigh in
weight.
- If you change partners during the tournament season, you will
have two separate weight totals, one weight with the old partner and one with
the new partner. These weights will not be added together for a total weight at
the end of the year. If you start the year with a partner and then divorce
him/her, you can continue to fish alone and all of the weights will count
toward your total weight. If you start the year off as a single (One-man) team
and pick up a partner during the year, all of your weights will count toward
your final weight.
- Any area that you intend to fish must be accessible from the
main lake and be accessible to the general public. In order to fish this area,
you must access said area from the main lake without leaving your boat. Push
poles are perfectly acceptable.
- This item is not a rule as such, but more a clarification of
a situation that happened on Lake Livingston. In the event that you break down
on the lake and cannot make it back to the weigh in site, it is perfectly
acceptable to give your chip and your fish to another club member to be brought
in for weighing. This is not mandatory. The club member who is flagged down
does not have to bring your fish in. This is only for clarification that you
are allowed to bring another club member's fish in to be weighed.
- In case of a tie by weight between teams for the top five
places (money pot), the money will be combined for the places tied and split
evenly between the two teams that are tied. Example: 1st place tie -
combine first and second place money and split that money evenly between the
two teams. If the tie is for fifth place, then the fifth place money is divided
equally between the two teams.
- The last tournament of the year will end at 2:00 pm, not at
3:00 pm as normal! This is to allow us to start the Awards Dinner faster, and
allow the club members to get home a little earlier.
- You will be allowed to fish one (1) pro/am tournament, either
as a pro or amateur, and still be allowed to fish the "Pigs and Hawgs"
tournaments.
